We list 14 early-education institutions in Turda: 11 kindergartens and 3 nurseries, all state-run. Provision is concentrated in four large institutions, each with several sites, and the only Hungarian-language option is Jósika Miklós. The full list, with addresses and contacts, is below.

Turda is Cluj county’s second-largest town and, unlike Cluj-Napoca where half the nursery provision is private, everything we could verify here sits in the public network.

How many nurseries are there in Turda?

Three, all run by the Turda Social Assistance Directorate (DAS Turda):

NurseryAddressPhone
Creșa nr. 4Str. Aviatorilor 16 (Oprișani)0738 978 279
Creșa nr. 5Str. Calea Victoriei 5E (Oprișani)0751 232 527
Creșa Jósika MiklósStr. B.P. Hașdeu 4—

Nurseries 4 and 5 operate in the same buildings as the Prichindelul Isteț and Sfânta Maria kindergartens respectively — a practical detail if you have two children of different ages.

Nursery applications go to DAS Turda, Str. Dacia nr. 1, or by email to office@asistentasocialaturda.ro. The calendar is set annually; check it on the DAS Turda site before you file.

The kindergartens

The 11 listed kindergartens belong to four institutions, each with sites in different parts of town.

Grădinița Dr. Ion Rațiu — main site at Str. Dr. Ioan Rațiu 71, tel. 0264 312 039. It has five further sites: Str. Aurel Vlaicu 3, Str. Cheii 11, Str. Castanilor 22, Str. Basarabiei 16 and Str. Mihai Eminescu 21. The largest network in town.

Grădinița cu program prelungit Sfânta Maria — Str. Calea Victoriei 5E, tel. 0264 313 436, with a site at Str. Arieșului 16. The building was refurbished, extended and equipped under an EU-funded project run by Turda town hall, which covered Creșa nr. 5 at the same time.

Grădinița Prichindelul Isteț — Str. Aviatorilor 16, tel. 0264 323 997, with a site at Str. Lianelor 17. Modernised in the same round of investment.

Grădinița Jósika Miklós — Str. B.P. Hașdeu 4, the only Hungarian-language option.

Where can you find a Hungarian-language group?

In exactly one place: Jósika Miklós at Str. B.P. Hașdeu 4 — and it runs both a nursery and a kindergarten. For a Turda parent who wants Hungarian-language education, this is the only option we could verify in the town.

For county-wide provision, we have a separate guide to kindergartens with a Hungarian section in Cluj county.

What we cannot confirm yet

We are open about the limits of our data, because an unconfirmed figure is worse than none at all.

For Turda we have no institution-confirmed fees, opening hours or minimum ages. State nurseries charge a locally-set meal contribution and state kindergartens charge no tuition — but the exact sums and the timetable have to be requested from the institution directly.

Equally, we list no private institution in Turda. That does not mean none exists: it means we have not yet found one in a source we can show you. If you run a private nursery or kindergarten in Turda, write to us and we will add it — free, like every other entry.

How enrolment works

Turda’s state kindergartens follow the county calendar set by the Cluj County School Inspectorate, in three stages: re-enrolment, then Stage I for new applications, then an adjustment stage in August for remaining places.

You may list three preferences on the application, and the file goes to the institution named first. Exact dates change year to year — check them on the Cluj County School Inspectorate site.

For the detailed steps and paperwork we have dedicated guides: enrolling at a state kindergarten, the enrolment calendar and the documents required.

Nurseries follow a separate procedure through DAS Turda, not the inspectorate.

Conclusion

Turda’s provision is concentrated and public: 14 institutions, four networks, one Hungarian-language option. There are three nurseries, and they are reached through DAS Turda rather than the inspectorate — a procedural difference that catches many parents out. What we could not confirm — fees, hours, private provision — we say plainly that we do not know, and every page shows you where its data came from.
