Frequently asked questions

Can I enroll my child in a public kindergarten outside my neighbourhood? Yes, but the catchment area still matters for placement. Confirm the current situation with the Cluj School Inspectorate (ISJ Cluj) or directly with the kindergarten.

What’s the difference between the Reformed and the Unitarian kindergarten? Both are confessional institutions where teaching is entirely in Hungarian. The difference is denominational (Reformed vs. Unitarian), but enrollment is open regardless of religion.

How many seats are in each Hungarian group? Between 16 and 30 places per group, depending on the institution. Exact 2026-2027 figures are in the RMDSZ PDF below.

Is there a long-day (extended programme) option in Hungarian? Yes. Most of the public kindergartens on the official list operate as extended-programme institutions. The Prichindeii Veseli normal-programme kindergarten in Huedin is the main exception.
